Five of the Greatest Day Trips from London

A day trip out of a major city abroad gives the chance to get two trips in one while letting you enjoy more of the culture and heritage of a country that you would have missed otherwise. Plus, day trips can give you a better taste of what life is really like in that country and allow you to experience it all more like a local than a tourist. Day trips from London in particular have so much to offer. That’s why we are excited to offer 5 of the greatest day trips you’ll want to take the next time you visit there.

Brighton:

A beach town popular in summer that is under an hour away from London. Take the train from London Bridge directly to Brighton station. While it’s a popular place for tourists to visit, there are actually many locals who live there so you’ll get a better feel for the culture. As a bonus, you’ll love that it offers great shopping choices, particularly for those of you who are fans of thrift shopping.

Stonehenge:

This UNESCO sight, inhabited around 8000 B.C, is worth the trip. You’ll find that it is easy to get to from London.

Bath: The UNESCO-designated city of Bath is home to ancient Roman spas, hot springs, and incredible architecture. The Roman baths are 2000 years old and you can access them for about $15. You can also enjoy Bath Abbey, England’s last gothic church. If you are interested in visiting Bath, book a tour that combines a visit here with Stonehenge which is nearby.

Oxford:

Oxford is best known as home to the famous university which is the oldest in the UK as well as one of the oldest in the world. You can arrange a tour and when you do, make sure to visit Christ Church where they filmed some of Harry Potter. Also, don’t forget to see Blenheim Palace which was Winston Churchill’s birthplace.

Cambridge:

Another famous university town, Cambridge is a must-see destination. Make sure to see its incredibly beautiful river by arranging a punting tour. A punt is a long, narrow flat-bottomed boat that is square on both ends and propelled using a long pole. You’ll also want to eat at some of its well-known pubs including The Anchor, and visit King’s College Chapel which has the largest fan vaulted ceiling ever made anywhere. Finally, take a moment to stop by the Fitzwilliam Museum to find works be Rembrandt, Da Vinci and other renowned artists.
